A NEW GATEWAY ON STATE STREET

The complete redesign of one of Chicago’s busiest transit stations improves safety, accessibility, and comfort for riders, and marks a new gateway to downtown.

The new station will provide convenient access for all riders

Access to the elevated station is substantially improved by adding elevators at the two western corners of the intersection. This provides those with mobility challenges an equitable and convenient way to access transit. Entry points to stairs are located at each corner of the intersection for easy wayfinding. Escalators just east of State Street offer increased convenience for riders. Additionally, connectivity to the Lake Street Red Line Station is enhanced with ADA-accessible elevators at State Street and the mezzanine level.
